The lessons at Newcastle University (Havelock Hall, Castles Leazes, Spital Tongues) take place during term time (with breaks for exams). They take place on Mondays at 8 p.m. and are a bargain £3 (£2 for student members). You don't have to be a member or a student to attend, but be aware that most people there will be students.
I'm doing various one-offs so it is worth e-mailing me (see below) to ask about the latest news, and to be put on my mailing list.
- The Newcastle University Swing Dance Society also organises social dances open to anyone who wants to come along. These take place roughly fortnightly during term time, and most are held at the Jazz Cafe, Pink Lane, Newcastle city centre. E-mail me for information on up-coming events, or contact the Society direct at swing@ncl.ac.uk.
- You can of course book me directly. Swing dance is eminently suited to wedding receptions, hen nights, balls, parties, and vintage period events. Why not get me to come along in my zoot suit and show the guests a few simple moves, and then keep the floor jumping all night?
I have also taught many times at local health clubs, colleges, and at Dance City, the region's dance agency (0191) 261 0505, Peel Lane, off Waterloo Street, Newcastle NE1 4DW info@dancecity.co.uk.
E-mail me at And in case someone out there is interested, here's my swing dance Curriculum Vitae.
